Ginger- Cayenne Oatmeal cookies

Ingredients
  • 1 ½ cups sifted flour
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons allspice
  • 1 teaspoons cayenne
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ginger
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon finely ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 8 ounces unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups quick-cooking rolled oats
Instructions
  1. Sift flour with spices, salt and baking soda. Set aside.
  2. In large bowl, cream butter. Add vanilla extract sugar and brown sugar, and beat well. Add eggs and beat to mix.
  3. On low speed, beat in sifted dry ingredients.
  4. Stir in oats with spoon.
  5. Line two cookie sheets with aluminum foil, shiny side down. Measure out ¼ cup of batter for each cookie and place 5 to 6 cookies on each sheet.
  6. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 to 14 minutes. Allow cookies to cool and then top with glaze. (recipe to follow)
