Quick & easy caramel sauce

Ingredients
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 3 T unsalted butter, cubed and at room temperature
  • ¼ cup heavy cream at room temperature
  • generous pinch of salt
Instructions
  1. Pour sugar into an even layer in a large saucepan. Heat on medium-high heat, whisking the sugar until melted. The sugar will clump up first, but will eventually completely melt.
  2. Once the sugar has melted (10 minutes or so) , stop whisking and allow to cook until the sugar has turned to a little darker amber color.
  3. Add butter and salt. Whisk until combined. Slowly pour the heavy cream into the caramel and whisk until incorporated. Pour into 4 ounce mason jar & let cool.
