Every year in July, people flock to the Olympics to the quaint town of Sequim for the lavender festival. I’ve talked about how perfect a pairing Hacienda Alsacia is with lavender, so this year I arranged a lavender themed coffee tasting at the Starbucks in Sequim.
I brought my last two bags of Hacienda Alsacia and Starbucks Reserve Peru Bagua Grande. Both of these coffees really are complimented by the lavender.I discovered that the people of Sequim love cookies. I made a copy cat version of a loft house sugar cookie withtwo different types of glaze; one lemon & lavender and one plain lemon. I also brought along my lavender sugarcubes, candied lemon almonds and La boulange vanilla shortbread. I prepared both coffees via pour over, and taught the correct method of making a pour over, and how delicious it is when done correctly!
This tasting was heavily advertised in the store, even a sign hung in their drive thru letting customers know about it. The turn out was pretty great, but the customers came armed with questions about the four fundamentals and how to brew coffee at home! I love helping solve problems and I love talking about coffee, so my heart was very happy.
