I really wanted to do something special on National coffee day. Since I was in Sacramento, I made some vague plans with some friends to meet up at an evenings store to try the new Espresso Cloud IPA. As luck would have it, the third crop of Hacienda Alsacia was recently released in Japan, and one of my friends came to my rescue and sent me a bag.
This coffee has travelled the globe. From Costa Rica to Seattle, to Japan, to California. These are very special beans, and I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate them. A group of coffee masters getting together and talking about our shared passion and our love for the craft.

Over the past year I have been having so much fun with this blog, and connecting with partners all over the world. Something that I have been thinking about is having ‘guest bloggers’, coffee masters contributing their recipes and pairings. The idea that this blog, eventually, become a hub for coffee masters. In this process, I found an old photocopy of a poster called ‘Everything Matters’. It must have been from some leadership meeting in the Bay Area, circa 2007? (just based off of the other papers it was with). The top of the poster had the logo evolution and a quote from Howard Schultz. Even with the outdated pictures and the typos, the message was strong and clear, and I decided to update it.

In 10 years of working at Starbucks, I have come across many items in my lost and found. Mostly iphone chargers and earrings end up there, but I’ve seen laptops, houseplants, and just about anything you can imagine. Never once have I come across a lost kitten at Starbucks, but on my closing shift one night, I looked outside and there was this woman staring at me. I went outside and asked her if I could help her, and saw she had a tiny kitten. I gasped, and somehow I ended up taking this little guy home…
